West Bay delivered another action-packed weekend for NWS Racing, and it was one to be proud of despite a frustrating finish.
Rory Collingbourne was on incredible from all weekend, showing the pace and consistency we’ve been working towards all season. Across the four races, Rory crossed the finish line in first every time, putting together one of his strongest performances of the year.
Sunday morning brought difficult conditions, with the weather forcing organisers to make a last-minute change to the course. To make things even harder, a mistake on the start line left Rory at the back of the field as the race got underway.
What happened next was a drive that summed up the determination of both Rory and the team. Lap by lap, he worked his way through the pack, making clean, decisive moves before eventually taking the chequered flag in first place.
Unfortunately, a three-minute penalty following the race meant that incredible comeback wasn’t enough to secure the overall weekend win, leaving Rory second overall.
It’s never easy to lose a result after everything that went into achieving it, but that’s part of racing. The positives far outweigh the disappointment. The speed was there, the boat performed faultlessly, and Rory proved once again that he can fight at the front, no matter what the circumstances.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who continues to support NWS Racing – our sponsors, family, friends, team members and everyone cheering us on throughout the season. Your support means everything.
We’ll keep pushing, keep improving, and head into the next round ready to fight again.
